Set up your Email on an Android Device
These instructions apply to any

SSL
SSLSSL (Secure Socket Layer) is a protocol that encrypts information on the internet for security reasons. Using SSL when you set up your email account will encrypt data sent between your mail client and the Telnet mail server to protect your messages and account information. |

Android devices vary so your screens and the options on those screens may look different or be in a different order than we show here.
- Open your email application.
- If you already have an email account setup, tap Menu and then Add Account.

Enter your email address and password.
Email address: Your telnetmail.ca email address
Password: Your telnetmail.ca password
- Tap Next.

For the Account type, select Pop or IMAP.
Choose IMAP If…- you want to access your email from multiple devices
- your local storage space is limited
- you are worried about backing up
Choose POP If…- you want to access your mail only from your Android
- you need constant access to your email, regardless of internet availability
- your server storage space is limited
If you aren’t sure which to use choose IMAP.
- Tap Next.

For the Incoming server settings use the following:
Username: Your telnetmail.ca email address
Password: Your telnetmail.ca password
IMAP (or POP) server: mail.telnetmail.ca
Security type: SSL
Port: 993 (IMAP)
995 (POP)
- Tap Next.

For the Outgoing server settings use the following:
SMTP server: mail.telnetmail.ca
Security type: SSL
Port: 465
Require sign-in: Selected
Username: Your telnetmail.ca email address
Password: Your telnetmail.ca password
- Tap Next.
- Set Account options the way you want on the following screens and you should be able to send and receive email.
